President Harry S. Truman hardly paused when asked about a resounding Republican political victory. Truman said that’s the way politics work in the United States. Times always get tough after Republicans get into office and stay there a white. Voters put up with it until they finally elect Democrats to fix the Republican messes. Times then get better, and voters put Republicans back into office. Republicans mess things up still again. Times get tough again. Voters return Democrats to office again.
Under President Bush, Republicans performed their traditional role -- again. But hey, here come the voters -- again.
